About Us

Lewis Battist (left), Bruce Lane (2nd from right) and another wine connoisseur chat with international wine guru Robert Parker, Jr. (far right) at a private reception preceding a tasting of 1997 Bordeaux wine conducted by Mr. Parker.

Bruce Lane has been studying, tasting and collecting wine since 1967. He has traveled extensively among many of the principal wine producing regions of the world, including California, France, Spain, Italy and Chile, visiting chateaux and wineries, learning about production methods and tasting the wines. He is particularly knowledgeable concerning French wines and is a Commandeur of the Commanderie de Bordeaux, a selective international society devoted to the study and tasting of the wines of Bordeaux. He has personally conducted many private wine tasting events, and he has organized several wine and food dinners on behalf of the Commanderie. He is a member of the Society of Wine Educators.

Lewis Battist has had a serious interest in wine since he first tasted the 1947 vintage of Bordeaux. This interest has broadened and deepened throughout the intervening years. Like Bruce he has traveled extensively tasting wines in the major wine producing regions of the world, including France, Italy, the United States, New Zealand and Australia. His training in and knowledge of chemistry, and his longtime experience as a university professor bring added dimensions to his love and knowledge of wines. He teaches wine courses throughout the Washington, D.C. area and is a member of the Society of Wine Educators.
